Earlier today, the Mayor of Bogota, Claudia Lopez, met with the ambassador of the European Union in Colombia, Gilles Bertrand, and with Spanish MEP, Javi Lopez, who is in Colombia as head of the European Union electoral observation mission.

This meeting sought to strengthen the cooperation agenda of the European bloc with Bogota, with a special focus on the social and economic integration of the migrant population and the implementation of the Peace Agreement.

The main work to be carried out with the European Union is aimed at achieving revenue generation through payment-for-results programs. The mayor of the Colombian capital reported that a pilot plan on employability issues is currently being structured, led by the Secretariat of Economic Development. "The technical design will be supported by the Inter-American Development Bank, for the definition of the payment scheme. [...] We are still looking for funding sources".

Other issues of interest regarding services for the migrant population are related to the protection of minors and food security for children, pregnant mothers, and vulnerable groups; as well as legal advice, support, and pedagogical processes to promote coexistence processes and transform views of migrants.

Additionally, issues related to the implementation of the Peace Agreement in the capital were discussed. To this end, support is being explored for productive initiatives and projects aimed at environmental conservation.
