Mayor Claudia López visited Invest in Bogotá, the city's investment promotion agency last Thursday, march de 4th.  The public-private agency managed by the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce and the Secretariat for Economic Development promotes foreign investment in the city. 

During the event, the Juan Gabriel Perez, the agency’s executive director, shared details on the strategies the agency was implementing to promote the arrival of new investment in the city in sectors such as creative industries, value-added manufacturing, infrastructure, life sciences and BPO.

The executive director also presented a balance of the agency in the last year, "In 2020, the agency attended 30 new investment and expansion projects that represented 114 million USD. These projects will generate more than 5,000 direct jobs for the city".

Furthermore, Perez discussed the Agency plans for 2021, "For this year Invest will have four virtual job fairs (in March, May, August and November), with topics like the Metro, women employment, people with disabilities and youth."

The Mayor emphasized the importance of working on the training of young people and women in the city, "We have to invest in bootcamps in relevant topics for our economy, as well as appropriate length for learners, whom should be mainly women”

Representatives of different international companies highlighted the key role of Invest in Bogota, which offers consultancy on specific issues for city marketing. This was expressed by the vice president and general manager for LATAM of Concentrix, Manfred Kissling, "The services provided by ProColombia and Invest in Bogota are fundamental for companies that are not familiar with the country. It has really been strategic for us to have this support."

Also, Li Wei, representative of China’s CAMC Engineering, highlighted the agency's role on the exploration of potential local alliances, "Invest in Bogota has really helped us a lot to get to know the Colombian companies that can be our partners, to develop our business, I think that is fundamental."

The agency also received recognition from the general director of Decathlon Colombia, Augusto Felix. Who discussed its advice in finding the best geographical location to establish its operation, "The relationship with Invest in Bogota is very important for us because it has allowed us to make good decisions for our installation here in the country, and especially in Bogota".

In recognition to its work, Invest in Bogota has received several international awards, including "Best Regional Investment Promotion Agency of South America", awarded by the American magazine Site Selection for six consecutive years (2015 - 2020), and the "Third best investment attraction strategy in Latin America" by the British magazine fDi Magazine (2019).
