Different international media reported the so-called “New Reality” of Bogotá in the post-pandemic era, including El Periódico from Spain. This journal recounted the economic and productive reactivation that Bogotá is going through, since local authorities announced the end of the general lockdowns to mitigate the Covid-19 contagion.

 

In its article, the Catalan newspaper highlighted that last weekend was the first moment after 5 months in which citizens were able to enjoy outdoor recreational activities following biosecurity measures. In particular, the Bogotanos participated in the reopening of the bike lane known as ‘Ciclovía’, and went to the Simón Bolívar Metropolitan Park, one of the lungs of the city

 

In this venue, the Mayor's Office had disinfection brigades for the children playground equipment and personnel to guarantee social distancing. Also, the Philharmonic Orchestra of Bogotá gave a free concert.

 

According to Bogotá`s Secretary of Culture, Nicolás Montero:

 

"Perhaps the pandemic is one of the greatest challenges that this city has faced. That is why it is so beautiful to see all this conscious self-care from the citizens within the public space. This is an invitation to break up the monotony of recent months. From now on, children and adults will enjoy outdoor exercise, riding a bike, going for a walk, running and skating"
