Bogotá has been selected as one of the co-host cities of CityLab 2021. This world summit of cities organized by Bloomberg Philanthropies and the Aspen Institute explores urban solutions that have global impact. The meeting will bring together mayors, local leaders and urban experts to share innovative and scalable solutions, to shaping a brighter future together.
Between March 1 and 3, Mayor Claudia Lopez, along with Mayors Yvonne Aki-Sawyerr (Freetown, Sierra Leone), Jan Vapaavuori (Helsinki, Finland) and London Breed (San Francisco, USA) will co-host CityLab 2021, which will be held virtually.
This year's discussion will focus on the innovative responses that cities have implemented to address the COVID-19 pandemic. The choice of Bogotá as co-host of this important event is a recognition of the work the city has carried out over the past year implementing innovative and effective projects to address the effects of the pandemic.

One of the innovative policies to be presented is the SALUDATA digital platform. This strategy of transparency and access to public information allows citizens to view in real time the main data on the evolution of COVID-19.
Among others, the figures of contagion, testing, availability of Intensive Care Units and the vaccination process are shown, with data disaggregated by district, sex and socioeconomic level. In addition to ensuring transparency for citizens, this strategy seeks to enable citizens to make informed decisions regarding their day-to-day social and economic activities.
The citizen-centered response that Bogotá has been developing, specifically the citizen culture strategy to transform life habits and internalize self-care measures, is another program that has caused international interest.
Bogotans and their civic culture continue to position themselves as the great asset of the city. During the event, Bogotá's commitment to promoting safe and sustainable mobility from contagion risk will also be presented.
The city has been recognized for the decision to implement 84 additional kilometers of bike paths since the beginning of the Pandemic. Thanks to this addition, daily bicycle trips increased from 6% to 13% in the city, an important triumph for mobility, the environment and the health of Bogotans.
Finally, the Mayor's Office will present the District Care System, the district's initiative to recognize, redistribute and reduce the care work that falls mainly on women and which increased dramatically during the quarantine period.

Through the coordination of a range of care services available to children, the elderly or persons with disabilities, the district seeks to help caregivers. In the same way, services such as training, recreation and leisure spaces are provided so that women can strengthen their life projects and increase their wellbeing.
