Bogotá, My City, My Home continues to strengthen its position as a leading destination for business development and investment in Latin America. Bogotá-Region is consolidating its role as one of the region’s top destinations for Shared Service Centers (SSCs) and Global Business Services (GBS), according to a study presented by Invest in Bogotá and Michael Page. The study ranks Bogotá among the Latin American cities with the highest concentration of GBS operations, alongside São Paulo and Mexico City, ahead of traditionally recognized markets in this sector such as San José and Buenos Aires. Bogotá has also established itself as Latin America’s leading Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) hub.
“Today, Bogotá hosts 70% of Colombia’s GBS operations and already ranks among the region’s top three hubs. These results reflect the confidence international companies place in our city’s talent and in its ability to lead strategic operations with global reach,” said Isis Durán, Executive Director of Invest in Bogotá.
The study shows that the industry is undergoing rapid transformation. GBS operations are moving beyond their traditional focus on operational efficiency to become strategic platforms that integrate functions such as finance, human resources, data analytics, procurement, technology, and artificial intelligence across multiple markets.
Currently, 75% of organizations operate under multifunctional models, while generative artificial intelligence tops technology investment priorities, at 65%.
“GBS operations have evolved from support centers into engines of organizational transformation. In this context, Bogotá has the conditions needed to continue attracting high-value operations serving Latin America,” said Daniel Camacho, Director of Michael Page Colombia.
Bogotá also benefits from a strong business ecosystem. More than 80,000 professionals graduate each year in fields relevant to the sector, the city offers world-class technology infrastructure, and foreign investment in knowledge-based services grew by more than 60% between 2019 and 2024.
The report also finds that 90% of companies view Colombia as a strategic hub for their operations, while 63% of the centers currently operating in the country have been established for more than five years — a sign of sustained confidence and investment stability.
