Bogotá, my city, my home, reaffirms its leadership in urban innovation and development in Latin America as it hosts the Smart City Expo Bogotá 2024 for the second time. Scheduled from September 25 to 27 at Corferias, this international event is organized by Fira Barcelona International and Corferias, with support from the Bogotá Mayor's Office and the Secretariat of Economic Development (SDDE).

Under the banner "Innovation that Transforms - Safe and Resilient Cities," this edition will see participation from over 60 speakers and more than 30 exhibiting companies showcasing innovative solutions and the latest trends in smart cities. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore projects focused on optimizing public services, sustainable urban mobility, and public safety—all aimed at strengthening city resilience and sustainability.

"In Bogotá, we are constructing a more resilient and innovative city where collaboration between the public and private sectors is essential to drive economic and social development. Innovation districts are strategic platforms to solidify this process and create positive impacts in our communities," stated María del Pilar López Uribe, Secretary of Economic Development of Bogotá.

Key Themes and Academic Agenda

This year's Smart City Expo Bogotá 2024 academic agenda revolves around six central themes reflecting the priorities of modern cities. A key focus is 'Innovative and Productive Territories,' aimed at promoting cooperation between the public and private sectors to spur economic development through innovation.

In the 'Emerging Technologies' area, solutions will be presented that enhance public management and decision-making through data analysis. The 'Energy and Environment' theme will focus on renewable energies and emission reduction, essential for a sustainable future.

Safety will also be a central theme with 'Safe Cities,' addressing technological solutions for crime prevention. In 'Urban Mobility,' the event will highlight advancements in eco-friendly mobility. Lastly, the 'Sustainable Communities' theme will underscore social innovation and community responsibility, aiming to create more cohesive and resilient cities.

Participation of the Bogotá Mayor's Office and the Secretary of Economic Development

Bogotá will feature a booth that offers attendees a city-like experience. People can learn about various initiatives that Bogotá is undertaking to position itself as the Colombian Capital of Innovation and a business hub in Latin America.

On Thursday, September 26, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, María del Pilar López Uribe, Secretary of Economic Development of Bogotá, will participate in the 'Innovation Districts: Platforms for Social, Urban, and Economic Development' panel. This session will bring together key leaders like Andrés López, Executive President of Corferias, and José Ovidio Claros, President of the Bogotá Chamber of Commerce (CCB), to discuss the role of innovation districts in transforming cities.
