Colombia’s capital is joining a global network of 300 cities working to put young people at the heart of the response to one of the defining challenges of our time: climate change. The latest group of participating cities marks a significant expansion of the program. Since its launch in 2024, the Fund has worked with cities around the world to strengthen youth leadership and bring locally driven environmental projects to life.
Bogotá’s selection recognizes the city’s growing commitment to ensuring that young people have a meaningful role in shaping solutions for their neighborhoods and communities. As a member of the network, Bogotá will also receive funding and technical support from Bloomberg Philanthropies to roll out the program locally.
The Bogotá Mayor’s Office will launch an open call to identify and support the most promising proposals. A total of USD 40,000 will be awarded as microgrants to the selected initiatives, which will also receive guidance as they put their projects into practice. The program will be implemented in partnership with ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability.
The call for proposals will be officially announced in the coming weeks. Youth-led community groups, organizations, and educational or academic initiatives will be invited to submit projects that can make a meaningful contribution to climate action in Bogotá.
