Bogotá, My City, My Home continues to strengthen its economy. During the first quarter of 2026, Bogotá-Region attracted 18 new and expansion foreign direct investment projects, representing an estimated USD 151 million in investment and the creation of more than 1,400 jobs, according to the latest report from Invest in Bogotá.

These figures mean that the Bogotá Region accounted for 40% of the foreign investment projects recorded in Colombia, 19.2% of the estimated investment value and 42.6% of the jobs created by these projects nationwide during the first three months of the year.
The report notes that, despite a global decline in the number of investment projects, Latin America and the Caribbean was the only region worldwide to experience growth in new and expansion foreign investment projects. Against this backdrop, Colombia ranked third among countries in the region, with 33 projects recorded during the first quarter.
“Software and IT services, together with corporate services, led foreign investment activity in the Bogotá Region, accounting for 50% of the projects recorded during the first quarter. These results reaffirm the city-region’s position as a hub for specialized talent, technology, business services and high-value-added operations,” said Isis Durán, Executive Director of Invest in Bogotá.
Notable projects include the expansion of Amadeus, a global company specializing in technology solutions for the travel and tourism industry. The company plans to strengthen its software development and cloud services operations and is expected to create 150 skilled jobs. Another major project is the expansion of Medtronic’s Shared Services Center. Medtronic, one of the world’s largest medical technology companies, expects the expansion to create 500 new jobs.
The United States was the leading source of investment in the Bogotá Region, accounting for five projects, followed by the United Kingdom with two. Investments were also recorded from Spain, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Brazil, India, France, Chile, Cyprus and the Philippines.
It is also worth noting that, between 2021 and the first quarter of 2026, the Bogotá Region attracted 590 new and expansion foreign direct investment projects, valued at USD 7.278 billion and expected to generate more than 68,000 jobs.
