Organized by the English magazine P3 Bulletin, the awards will be held on March 4. According to the P3 bulletin, the Bogotá Metro project was selected as "This project will have a transformative effect on the lives of the inhabitants of one of the most populated cities in Latin America. In addition to being 24 km long, 16 stations and 28 access buildings, it also has a significant engineering task".
This year’s Best Transit Project GOLD award goes to #Bogota's First Metro Line. Close behind, and highly commended, was the Stage 2 LRT Confederation Line Extension Project, Canada. Well done to both! #P3Awards
Likewise, after evaluating all the projects submitted, the P3 considered "the way in which the planning of a financial structure unites with the needs of the citizenry, taking into account that it will move more than one million passengers per day, creating a revolutionary transport option for Bogota".
For this reason, and considering the impact this project will have in people's lives, the PLMB (First Line of the Bogotá Metro) is a finalist in the "Best Transit Project" category. Besides “best transit project”, the initiative will award prizes in 18 more categories.
