The Champion Mayors for Inclusive Growth initiative of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) highlighted on its website the management of Bogotá led by Mayor Claudia Lopez, aimed at caring for people, democracy and the planet. The initiatives highlighted are related to gender equity, response to climate change, inclusion of the migrant population and economic growth for the young population.

Through an interview published in the "Mayor of the Moment" section, initiatives aimed at addressing inequality and promoting inclusive economic growth are made visible. The objective of these publications is for leaders and local governments around the world to learn about innovative initiatives that are producing positive results and that can be replicated and adjusted to the reality of their cities and territories.

Four topics were addressed in the interview published by the OECD. First, the mayor of Bogotá highlighted the innovation of the Care Blocks and its impact on the social and economic well-being of women in the Colombian capital. "Thanks to the services of the Care Blocks, the support for entrepreneurship and the policies that we have created to promote public employment, Bogotá currently has the smallest labor gap between men and women, of all its history", she highlighted.

Secondly, the bets made by the Colombian capital to respond to and stop climate change are highlighted. Sustainable multimodal mobility projects under construction, the fleet of electric buses, the use of bicycles, and the reduction of emissions are all highlighted. "We issued a new Master Plan that expands the city’s Main Ecological Structure by 30%, protecting and expanding wetland areas," the Mayor reported in the interview.

Thirdly, initiatives that have allowed for the social, economic, and cultural integration of the migrant population are presented. Regarding this, the Mayor stated that in Bogotá, "we don’t talk only about a migration and humanitarian strategy, but about reception, economic and social inclusion and development. It is a model that will endure over time".

Finally, strategies for the economic empowerment of the young population are discussed. "Young people are at the center of the new social contract that we are materializing in Bogotá. We understand that the youth of Bogotá have different needs, expectations and life projects," the Mayor explained.
