As Colombia’s capital, Bogotá plays a strategic role in regional meetings tourism. The latest report from the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) places Bogotá among the Top 5 cities in Latin America for hosting international association events and confirms its leadership as Colombia’s top MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) destination.

The ICCA Global Rankings 2024 report analyzed over 11,000 qualifying meetings worldwide for top-tier events. Regionally, Colombia emerged as the third most active country in Latin America in terms of hosted events, behind only Brazil and Argentina—marking significant growth compared to previous years.
“This result reflects the coordinated efforts of public and private stakeholders, including the Bogotá Convention Bureau at Invest in Bogotá and other strategic allies across national and city-level value chains, all working to position our city as an epicenter for knowledge, innovation, and international business,” said Luisa Fernanda Vásquez, Director of the Bogotá Convention Bureau.
Key findings from the ICCA Global Rankings 2024 report include:
- Europe continues to lead the global meetings industry, but Latin America was one of the two regions with the highest growth in number of events from 2023 to 2024.
- The dominant themes of international meetings remain in the medical-scientific, technology, and education sectors.
- A clear trend toward medium-sized events (150–999 attendees) is consolidating; these represent 53% of all meetings and deliver a high return on investment for host cities.
In this context, Bogotá is not only recognized for its modern infrastructure and international connectivity, but also as a center for thought leadership and sectoral development in critical fields such as health, sustainability, logistics, and the creative economy.
“The ICCA ranking is a key barometer for measuring a city’s impact and global positioning in the congress and convention landscape. Bogotá is making steady, strategic progress toward becoming a global reference in this field,” Vásquez concluded.
