Bogotá, My City, My Home’s steadily becoming a hub for foreign investment and regional development. Mayor Carlos Fernando Galán presented the city’s major infrastructure projects to a group of leading U.S. companies at a special session hosted by the Council of American Enterprises (CEA).

The event also included representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Colombia, the Colombian American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Colombia), Invest in Bogotá, and the Urban Development Institute (IDU).

The objective: to strengthen Bogotá’s international positioning and attract new investments in strategic megaprojects that are set to transform urban mobility, infrastructure, and the quality of life for millions of residents.

Projects Driving Urban and Social Development

Bogotá is currently advancing over 1,200 active construction sites—marking the largest urban transformation in the city’s history. Key projects presented include:

  • Avenida Calle 13 Expansion: A USD $781 million investment to boost the city’s logistics and connectivity.
  • PTAR Canoas: The country’s most significant environmental project, with an investment of COP 6 trillion, benefiting over 7 million people in Bogotá and the neighboring municipality of Soacha.
  • Bogotá Airport City: A USD $4 billion strategy to position Bogotá as a leading logistics and business hub in Latin America.
  • Science, Technology and Innovation Campus: Spanning 247 hectares, this project aims to make Bogotá a regional center for research and development.
  • New Hospitals in Engativá, Suba, and Fontibón: A combined investment of over USD $150 million to expand the city’s healthcare infrastructure with more than 320 new hospital beds.

The United States: Bogotá’s Strategic Partner

The United States remains Bogotá’s top commercial and investment partner. In 2024 alone, exports to the U.S. reached USD $2.836 billion—accounting for 41% of all non-traditional exports—while imports totaled USD $7.197 billion, representing 24.8% of the city’s total imports.

Between 2021 and 2025, foreign direct investment (FDI) from the U.S. reached USD $2.981 billion, generating around 25,000 new jobs in the Bogotá region.
