Santiago, Chile served as the backdrop for the exchange of cultural products and services from South America, encompassing networking, showcases, parades, and discussions aimed at commercial integration among South American nations. Santiago Trujillo, the Secretary of Culture, Recreation and Sports of Bogotá (SCRD), attended as one of the guest experts invited by the Executive Secretariat of Creative Economy of the Ministry of Cultures, Arts, and Heritage of Chile, sharing insights from Bogotá's experiences as a creative city of music.

In the context of the internationalization strategy of the cultural portfolio, the Secretary met with key players in the creative industry to coordinate cooperative actions that help promote and continue positioning Bogotá as a major cultural events city.

Firstly, with Trinidad Zaldivar, the manager of Cultural and Creative Industries at the Inter-American Development Bank - IDB, technical and/or financial cooperation opportunities were identified to bolster processes around creative industries and the potential to create a think tank network focusing on culture in Latin American capital cities.

Secondly, the Secretary participated in the 'Technologies of Our Future' forum, specifically on the panel 'Trends and New Scenarios for Music Markets Worldwide,' which aimed to understand the impact of new technologies on the development of this industry and the challenges faced.

In this forum, he interacted with various stakeholders, including music creators, public and private sector decision-makers, music business managers or administrators, producers, citizens, and cultural managers interested in the intersection between technology, exhibition, dissemination, and commercialization.

In conclusion, Bogotá has become a key venue for the circulation of music in Latin America. Since 2012, the city has been part of UNESCO's Creative Cities Network in the music category and is a territory that breathes diverse tones and melodies.

One way to demonstrate the importance of music to the capital is through participation in cultural markets that currently cater to the artistic sector and have become spaces for citizens in the neighborhoods where they are held to enjoy a diverse and high-quality artistic offering.

In this regard, they serve as references for other countries of Southamerica, with events such as the ‘Estéreo Picnic Festival’, the Festivals ‘al Parque’, and platforms like BOmm and BIME, which offer Bogotá residents the opportunity to actively participate in these integrating spaces with quality artistic offerings, update sessions, information, networking, and expansion of networks, knowledge transmission, and best practices on topics such as environmental sustainability through musical practice.

Trujillo also held a meeting with the directors of culture of the Chilean creative music cities (Valparaíso, Concepción, and Frutillar) to coordinate and structure collaborative work plans around the global network of UNESCO creative cities in the field of music, with a focus on the next four years.

The idea is to identify possible lines of collaborative work prior to the global network meeting, which will be held in July 2024 in Braga, Portugal.
