Led by CAF, the Humboldt Institute, and UN Habitat, the BiodiverCities Network supports Latin American and Caribbean governments in urban and territorial planning and management that effectively integrates biodiversity conservation, restoration, and sustainable use as the foundation of their socioeconomic development and to improve people’s quality of life.

Furthermore, since its inception in December 2021, the BiodiverCities Network has grown to include more than 185 cities across the region, seeking to fund greener, fairer, and more prosperous cities.

Additionally, CAF's Urban Development, Waters, and Creative Economies Management (GDUAEC) has spearheaded the BiodiverCities Network, aiming to spread awareness of the BiodiverCity concept among the region's cities and to drive its effective incorporation into local planning and management.

Bogotá joins this network along with other Colombian cities like Cali, Santa Marta, Leticia, and Quibdó. The ceremony to incorporate new cities into the network was led by CAF President Sergio Díaz-Granados. Following the signing, Mayor Galán and Secretary Soto held a meeting with CAF executives.
