‘Bogotá, My City, My Home’ continues to strengthen its strategy to attract foreign investment. "Bogotá welcomes you. We are open to collaboration and have many ongoing projects -not just in transportation infrastructure but also in wastewater treatment and more - that we plan to develop over the next two years. We hope these initiatives become magnets for investment and that you’ll see Bogotá as a dynamic and promising city to do business in.”
At the meeting, the city’s Secretariat of Economic Development presented a portfolio of strategic projects in areas such as infrastructure, clean mobility, energy transition, and circular waste management. Bogotá is also advancing priority sectors like technology, life sciences, advanced manufacturing, and the circular economy, with growing opportunities in digital health, medical devices, climate tech, IT services, industrial recycling, and sustainable production. Thanks to this vision, Bogotá is emerging as a key innovation hub in Latin America.
“We’re moving in a different direction than the national trend—we’re bringing in investment,” said Mayor Galán. “We firmly believe progress comes from strong collaboration between the public and private sectors, creating the right conditions for investment, and ensuring legal certainty so investors feel confident about long-term commitments.”
Invest in Bogotá highlighted the city's competitive advantages, which make it one of the top three destinations for foreign investment in the region: macroeconomic stability, a highly skilled talent pool, and a strategic location that connects it to the continent’s major markets. The agency also detailed the support it offers to international companies—from navigating regulations to reducing startup costs and timeframes—to ensure a smooth entry into the local market.
France remains a key ally for Bogotá when it comes to investment. According to Invest in Bogotá, it is one of the city’s strategic partners for attracting foreign capital, thanks to its strong potential for generating local employment.
The MEDEF delegation includes around 20 companies with a combined turnover exceeding $780 trillion COP (approximately $189 billion USD). These firms specialize in rail and mobility, water and waste management, and energy transition, and they have expressed strong interest in Bogotá’s green and infrastructure portfolios.
This visit builds on earlier engagements held in Paris during a business roundtable in March, led by Mayor Galán, reaffirming the French business community’s commitment to Bogotá’s development projects.
As Bogotá tackles its biggest urban challenges, it is doubling down on collaboration between the public and private sectors. This second meeting in 2025 between the Mayor and MEDEF underscores the city’s commitment to building partnerships that bring out the best of what Bogotá—and the world—has to offer.
