The United Nations Development Program, UNESCO and the Ministry of Education of Bogota held the International Seminar on the new model of access, permanence and graduation of post-media education. The objective of this meeting was to launch the Agency for Higher Education, Science and Technology, a new entity dedicated to monitoring the transition from secondary to higher education and its articulation with education for work, human development and the needs of the productive sector. During the two-day seminar, national and international organizations shared experiences and lessons learned in different topics of post-media education with the aim of strengthening the new model of access, permanence and graduation of post-media education and discuss the benefits and challenges of the new Agency. At the opening of the event, Ricardo Moreno, director of relations with the higher education and education sectors for the work of the Secretary of Education of Bogota, spoke about the importance of the Sustainable Development Objectives in the District Development Plan and how this new Agency for Higher Education, Science and Technology is an innovative approach that aims to create 20,000 new places in higher education; the reduction of dropouts and with this the reduction of unemployment and poverty. The seminar was developed around seven topics; the first was the Model of vigilance, foresight and relevance of Human Capital, Science and Technology; the second on the Dual Training System, the third was the Certification of Competences/Micro-certifications; the fourth was the Financing of Higher Education; the fifth dealt with the Basic Cycle of Higher Education; the sixth work table dealt with the topic of the Immediate Transition Model, and the seventh table was on the process of Educational Articulation-Homologation with representatives of national and international universities and the Ministry of Education. The launch and the roundtables concluded with Moreno's reflection on the importance of this new system, "The Agency for Higher Education, Science and Technology is a strategy that is a significant step towards the fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Objectives thanks to its transversal goals in terms of access to quality education and dignified work.
