The Liceo Femenino Mercedes Nariño in Bogotá has joined the list of schools in the world recognized with the Label FrancEducation educational quality seal.

Since last December 3rd, the Liceo Femenino Mercedes Nariño is the first public educational institution in the country to be accredited with the quality seal granted by decree of the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

This was highlighted by Stéphane Paris, Attaché of Educational Cooperation of the French Embassy in Colombia, who informed that with this distinction the Lycée becomes, in addition, "The second center in Colombia awarded for its excellence in teaching French to its students and is already part of the world network of centers "Label FrancEducacion'".

This award to the Liceo Femenino Mercedes Nariño recognizes the coverage that covers more than 5000 girls and adolescents learning French; the spaces dedicated to this language; the formation of the teaching team; the official DELF exams; the organization and management of the courses; and the innumerable activities that allow the teaching of French and English for the benefit of the students.

For Erick Ariza, rector of the school, this news is received with "much happiness, besides it becomes a great commitment that we acquire on having been the first official school that receives this recognition to the quality in the education of the French ".

The rector explained that the purpose of the school is to strengthen the learning of French and English under processes of high quality and "now with an educational seal our girls will continue to receive their training in the French language and may leave with an accreditation in accordance with the international level they reach, is a quite important opening to the world.

On behalf of the French Embassy, the attaché congratulated this educational institution for this achievement and thanked the District's Secretary of Education, as well as the Alliance Française of Bogotá, "For all the support given to an outstanding and important school for us, its teams and students. Our collaboration is bearing fruit and above all the work and commitment of the teaching teams and directors".

The new challenge that the Liceo Femenino Mercedes Nariño has set itself for 2021 is to expand the learning of French from pre-school to 11th grade, so that the students arrive with a strengthened average in this language that will continue to be strengthened by the Bilingualism Plan led by the District's Secretary of Education.

The Label FrancÉducation quality seal is a distinction launched in the world in 2012 by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs that awards foreign institutes and schools that participate in the dissemination of French language and culture and recognizes and values educational centers, whether public or private, that provide their students with a solid education in French.

The Plan for bilingualism in Bogotá seeks to form competent students who can communicate in a foreign language, providing them with tools to enrich their life project, reduce gaps and allow them access to more and better academic, work and social opportunities.
