TUMI (Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative), a leading global implementation initiative in sustainable mobility, highlighted the work of implementing 84 kilometers of bike lanes during the pandemic season carried out by the Secretariat of Mobility of Bogotá, headed by Nicolás Estupiñán.

On March 25, 2020, the District Administration implemented, in a first phase, 35 kilometers of temporary bicycle lanes to facilitate the mobility of people who had to move around during the strict quarantine. Subsequently, in April, 49 additional kilometers were implemented as mirror corridors to public transportation. In this way, emblematic roads of the city such as Carrera 7, Primero de Mayo Avenue and Calle 13, among others, had for the first time exclusive bicycle lanes available 24/7.

"It is an endorsement of the management that has been developed. At this moment Bogotá has the largest electric fleet awarded in Latin America and we have developed the conceptual design for the Green Corridor where we prioritize pedestrians, bicycles and the ecological structure", he added.
