Mayor Claudia López met with a delegation from Spain's Secretary of State for International Cooperation, led by Secretary of State Pilar Cancela Rodríguez and Spain's Ambassador to Colombia Joaquín de Aristegui Laborde. The meeting was also attended by the Deputy Minister of the Orange Economy, Adriana Padilla Leal.
The aim of this working group was to define the steps to be taken to make the Cultural Center of Spain in Bogotá a reality and to explore lines of cooperation aimed at providing services to the migrant population and promoting gender equality.
"We appreciate the interest of the Spanish government to make this project a reality, which will bring more culture to Bogotanos. The next step is the joint definition of the project between the Ministry of Culture, and the Secretariat of Culture and International Cooperation of Spain," said Mayor Claudia López.

For her part, Pilar Cancela Rodríguez, the Secretary of State for International Cooperation of Spain, expressed her country's interest in this project, "We are going to bet on the Cultural Center of Spain in Bogotá. The will of the governments of Bogotá and Colombia demonstrates the joint commitment that is required," she said.
It is expected that the Cultural Center of Spain will be coordinated with the Special Plan for the Management and Protection of the Historic Center and will have its own cultural activities, such as those carried out by the Museum of Bogotá.
The Secretary of State for International Cooperation of Spain will be in Colombia until February 6 and began her visit with this working group. "We began our visit to Colombia with Mayor Claudia López who is an example to follow on social matters. You can count on Spanish Cooperation to improve the situation of migrants and promote gender equality," she wrote on his Twitter account.
With regards to the aforementioned issues, lines of cooperation aimed at the economic and social integration of the migrant population and the prevention of xenophobia were explored. Additionally, the strengthening of employability and income generation strategies for women caregivers, through the District Care System were addressed.
