On February 27th, the Fontibón Care Block opened its doors, offering services to caregivers and families in this district of Bogotá. From now on, caregivers, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities in Fontibón can enjoy a complete range of services that will provide them with more and better opportunities.

In this Care Block, whose main facility is the La Giralda Community Development Center, caregivers can enjoy over 15 free services, including education, entrepreneurship, exercise, well-being, health, and respite. And the best part is that they no longer have to worry about "who will take care of my child while I'm gone?" or "who will take care of my mother while I study?"

Now, with the Care Block, while caregivers study, rest, or have fun, the people they care for, such as children, older adults, or people with disabilities, have services that contribute to the development of their abilities and promote their autonomy.

In the Fontibón Care Block, women can study to complete their primary and high school education, take English and office tools courses with the National Learning Service (SENA) and the Secretariat for Women’s Affairs. They can also learn how to create and manage their own business or connect with employment opportunities through the employment, entrepreneurship, and formalization routes of Secretariat of Economic Development and enjoy workshops on financial education and inclusion for home purchase taught by the Secretariat of Habitat.

And it's not just about studying. The Fontibón Care Block also has respite and exercise services. Here, the Institute of Recreation and Sport (IDRD) offers guided classes in physical activity, rumba, aerobics, and cycling school.

Furthermore, the Secretariat of Health has prevention campaigns for diseases and health promotion. And that's not all, caregivers in this area can come to the Care Block and receive attention, guidance, legal, and psychological counseling from lawyers and psychologists from the Secretariat for Women’s Affairs in case of any kind of violence.

The Fontibón Care Block is also a space for connection with nature; the Botanical Garden will have urban agriculture classes for caregivers, and the Secretariat of the Environment will offer courses to learn how to make pencil cases and bags from recycled materials.

And while caregivers enjoy all these services, the Secretariat of Social Integration, Health, and the Institute of Arts (IDARTES) have a complete offering for girls, boys, the elderly, and people with disabilities.

The Fontibón Care Block is also a space for men and for the general public. The premise here is that "You learn to care". The Secretariat of Culture will have a Care School for Men, a place where they can learn how to do the household care tasks that are required.

In addition, the Public Library Network (Biblored) will have reading cycles and readings of texts written by women, a space for the entire Fontibón community.

All of this happens in the Care Block, a place that will transform the lives of more than 50,000 people who live within the coverage area.
