For its special edition "The World in 2021", The Economist magazine chose world leaders in politics, public health, economics, science and technology. To share their analysis of the coronavirus pandemic and the effects it will have by 2021. The mayor of Bogotá, Claudia Lopez was one of the characters selected, in her participation she spoke about how this 2020 began, the lessons that remain, and what she expects from next year.

In the British weekly's article the Mayor Claudia López said that just after the beginning of her term, COVID-19 came to change everything, "We had to take new measures every day. We had to manage health, prevent deaths, protect incomes and avoid hunger at all costs. For example, we went from giving cash transfers to 20,000 households at the beginning of the year, to providing a basic income and food aid to 712,000 households in a matter of seven months.

The article by Mayor Claudia López was chosen to be in the section called "Optimism in the time of COVID-19", which highlights the profiles of those people who have managed to find, in the adversity of the health crisis, learning opportunities, as the Mayor confirms in one of her statements, "I have more pride and optimism than ever. I have seen the best sides of my city and its people. In 2021 and beyond, we will emerge as better human beings and citizens.
