The American magazine TIME chose 8 world leaders in politics, public health, economics and development to participate in a special entitled 'The Power of Collaboration'. The mayor of Bogotá, Claudia López, was one of the chosen characters.

"Governing in the midst of humanity's greatest multi-systemic crisis forces citizens, leaders and governments to weigh the temptation of polarization against the need to promote collective action to survive," she wrote.

In their articles, global change leaders discuss powerful collaborations in their lives. Thus, the Mayor of Bogotá refers to the pandemic as a crucial learning scenario, which has also yielded lessons and the possibility of building bridges of collaboration across differences.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has provided an opportunity for collaboration. It has brought a sense of urgency to our efforts to focus on what unites us," the Mayor detailed.

The mayor also highlighted that "Bogotá tripled its hospital care capacity during the pandemic" and how "our vaccination efforts have brought protection to 80% of the population, in a joint effort between the national government and my office".

Among the people selected by TIME magazine are Kristalina Georgieva, director of the International Monetary Fund; Tedros Adhanom, director of the World Health Organization; Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change; Margrethe Vestager, executive vice president of the European Commission for digital skills; and Masatsugu Asakawa, president of the Asian Development Bank.
