With the purpose of reviewing statistics, data and georeferencing of homeless people, to advance in the preparation stage of their vaccination, the director of the District Institute for the Protection of Children and Youth, Carlos Marín Cala, met with representatives of the Bogotá Metropolitan Police and the Social Integration, Health and Security Secretaries.
“This population can be sure that, as a District and with the leadership of Mayor Claudia López, we are working together with non-government organizations and the private sector to carry out a great day of vaccination that will be carried out in the next few days” said Marín Cala.
The objective of the second phase of vaccination against covid-19 is to reduce contagion, so the National Vaccination Plan included vulnerable groups, such as homeless people, as a population that will receive the vaccine.

In response to this task, the Ministry of Health and Social Protection established that the identification of this population will be responsibility of the municipal health secretariats, which must have a census of this population and locate in order to include them in the plan, taking into account different aspects.

Among which stands out that they are people with barriers to access to information, who are vulnerable and who have a higher prevalence of serious or chronic diseases, as well as mental health disorders due to consumption or problematic use of psychoactive substances that make it difficult for them to understand and adhere to coronavirus infection prevention measures.
The Vaccination Plan is articulated under the principles of equity, effectiveness and efficiency, stipulated in the Statutory Health Law, that is, depending on the criteria, all citizens will have access to the vaccine, therefore, territorial entities must establish and implement strategies to ensure that information reaches this population and guarantee their access to vaccination.
