Bogotá has been chosen by the Carter Center as 1 of 12 cities worldwide to participate in the 'Inform Women, Transform Lives' campaign, a global effort to ensure that women can seek and access information from their local governments and thrive in their communities.

Cities from all over the world applied to the Carter Center's call for applications. Finally, Bogotá was selected along with 11 other cities, for its commitment on gender equality and transparency.

The overall goals of the campaign are to raise awareness of women’s right to information, increase the number of women accessing information about local and social services in Bogotá and support the city in reaching women with meaningful information. Through the campaign implementation, the Carter Center will support Bogotá in overcoming barriers to women's access to information.

"Access to information is a fundamental human right enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. With full access to public information, women can better exercise their rights and use the services available to them and improve their quality of life," said Bogotá's Secretary for Women, Diana Rodríguez Franco.

The 11 other cities taking part in the 2022 campaign are Birmingham, United Kingdom; Casablanca, Morocco; Dhaka North, Bangladesh; Freetown, Sierra Leone;  Maputo, Mozambique; Montevideo, Uruguay; Nairobi, Kenya; Paris, France; Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic; Tunis, Tunisia; and Washington D.C., United States.

Support will focus on gender-focused communication and information platforms. Funding of US$50,000 will be used to develop communication activities aimed at women, so that they can benefit from the Care System services. The global campaign will be officially launched on March 8, International Women's Day.
